REVIEW QUOTES:

The California Wildlife Habitat Garden: How to Attract Bees, Butterflies, Birds, and Other Animals:
Published by UCPress, author - Nancy Bauer 1st Edition, 2012

Katya T.
This is the best wildlife gardening book I've read. I love the emphasis on CA native plants. Breaks the subject of habitats into practical chapters such as gardening for birds, gardening for pollinators, ponds and lawn substitutes with an easy discussion of the importance of various features to each. Includes lots of useful descriptions of plants, when they bloom and what type of wildlife they attract. Great photos and includes just the right amount of information to make it interesting and easy to read.

Richard G. Turner, Jr., Editor Emeritus of Pacific Horticulture
Whether it’s the pleasure of observing wildlife up close, the satisfaction of enhancing local habitat, or the kinetic energy that wild critters bring to a garden, growing a garden for wildlife adds new and exciting dimensions to even the smallest of spaces. With straightforward text, beautiful photography, clear directions, and profiles of successful wildlife gardens, Nancy Bauer leads us on a journey of discovery into the never-ending joys of gardening.

Carol Bornstein, coauthor of California Native Plants for the Garden
Nancy Bauer’s book offers up a recipe for creating a wildlife habitat garden—which plants work well and how to provide for the needs of birds, insects and other wildlife. The profiles of private gardens are particularly helpful and offer encouragement to anyone wanting to design a dynamic, beautiful garden in harmony with nature.
